Fulton, Mo, 9/30/21 – Westminster women's soccer returned home to Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium as they continued SLIAC play with a convincing victory over conference foe, Spalding University Golden Eagles 3-1. This win comes as a bounce back effort after a tough double OT loss this past Monday and improves their record to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the SLIAC.

The Blue Jays outshot their opponent 13-4 and kept the ball in their offensive third for the majority of the game. The Blue Jays matched their offensive prowess with tenacious defense to help secure a much-needed win early in conference play. 

The first goal came in the 38^th minute as Sophomore forward Rachel Nolte (Wentzville, MO / Holt High School) booted a laser to the far post just inside the upper 90 left of the goal from the 30 yards out after sophomore midfielder Lauren Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) delivered a precision pass to her teammate who was sprinting toward the goal. The Spalding University keeper couldn't react as the ball sailed over her head into the net making the score 1-0.

The Blue Jays struck again in the second half with another goal in the 56^th minute as Halamicek corralled a nice pass from Nolte and took on the keeper as she dribbled left she planted shot back across her body to beat the keeper to the right far post to bring the score to 2-0. That goal would prove to be the game winning goal.

The Blue Jays had a very solid game defensively but Spalding did manage to get a goal back as Spalding's Baeli Young took the kick off and scored off of a Kara Krueger pass just 10 seconds later while still in the 56^th minute. The Blue Jays would eventually put the game away as freshman midfielder Savannah Feltrop (Jefferson City, MO / Helias) scored the final goal of the game in the 62^nd minute off of a rebound of a Jenna Frisella (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) shot making the final score 3-1 in favor of the Blue Jays. The goal was the first collegiate goal of Feltrop's young career.

Halamicek led the Blue Jays with six shots, three shots on goal, one goal, and one assist. Nolte followed with four shots, two shots on goal, one goal, and one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Davidson (St. Louis, MO / Affton) went all 90 minutes facing two shots with one save to earn the win.  

The Blue Jays will look to build on their momentum as they continue SLIAC play on the road against Blackburn College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
