Louisville, KY, 10/23/21 – The season is getting late and every game gets bigger and bigger for post season seeding. The Blue Jays game with the Spalding University Golden Eagles was another one of those important games. The Blue Jays scored an important win at home against the Golden Eagles earlier this season but the return engagement would not go the Blue Jays way as the Golden Eagles scored the first four goals of the game and went on to a 4-1 victory to split the season series. The loss dropped the Blue Jays record to 5-9 overall and 5-7 in the SLIAC. The victory improved the Golden Eagles to 8-7-1 overall and 6-5-1 in the SLIAC.
The Blue Jays lone goal on the day came in the 78th minute when Annalise Beck (St. Louis, MO / Notre Dame High School) would connect for her first goal of the season off of a free kick. The Golden Eagles outshot the Blue Jays 15-8 overall and 11-6 in shots on goal. Spalding was aided by five corner kicks compared to Westminster's one. The Golden Eagles were whistled for seven fouls to the Blue Jays six. Blue Jay goalkeeper Megan Davidson (St. Louis, MO / Affton High School) again went the distance for the Jays and made seven saves.
The Blue Jays will be back in action in what will be the final home game of the season on Wednesday October 27th. The day will mark Senior Day for the Jays lone senior midfielder Becca Bond (Midwest City, OK / Carl Albert). She will be honored in a ceremony before the game. The Blue Jays will welcome the Blackburn College Beavers for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium.
