Greenville, IL, 10/20/21 – The Westminster College women's soccer team traveled to Greenville, Illinois to take on the Greenville University Panthers Wednesday night hoping to score a road win that would help their push up the SLIAC standings in hopes of getting a home conference tournament game. The two teams played to a scoreless tie at halftime but the Panthers would score three second half goals to defeat the Blue Jays 3-0. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 5-8 overall and 5-6 in the SLIAC in fifth place. The Panthers improved to 9-5 overall and 9-2 in the SLIAC in second place.
The Panthers outshot the Blue Jays 19-7 overall and 8-3 in shots on goal. The Greenville offense received the benefit of ten corner kicks to Westminster's three. The Panthers and Blue Jays were both whistled for six fouls each.
The Blue Jays are back in action this weekend when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky to take on the Spalding University Golden Eagles. The Saturday game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. CST kickoff.
