Blue Jays Open Indoor Season at Missouri Invitational

The Westminster women's track and field team opened the 2015 indoor season at the Missouri Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri. 

The Westminster Blue Jays had five runners compete in four events.

Senior Tanisha Terrell, senior Nyima Njie and freshman Maria Rains competed in the 60-meter dash. Terrell placed first for the Blue Jays, crossing in 8.29 seconds with a 29th place finish. Njie placed 31st, finishing the race in 8.39 seconds, and Rains placed 35th with a time of 8.82. 

Terrell and Rains also competed in the 200-meter dash. Terrell finished in 28.71 seconds, and Rains finished in 29.50 seconds. 

Freshman Madison Zack ran the mile run, finishing in 6:12.24.

Junior Brier Skogsberg competed in the 3000-meter run, placing 12th with a time of 11:41.48.

"We were a little overwhelmed by division one and two teams, but it was good to go to a meet so close," stated Head Coach Jim Marshall. 

The Blue Jays will compete in the Snow Bird Open hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on Saturday, January 24.
