Rains Establishes New Record at Prin Relays

The Westminster women's track and field team competed in the Prin Relays hosted by Principia College on Friday, January 30th. 

The Blue Jays competed in the 300-meter dash for the first time in school history. Freshman Maria Rains established the record with a 45.70 time and a 9th place finish. Senior Tanisha Terrell also competed in the event, placing 13th with a 47.08 time. 

A trio of Blue Jays competed in the 60-meter dash. Terrell finished first for the Blue Jays, placing 17th out of 44 with a time of 8.27. Senior Nyima Njie finished just after, finishing in 8.30 seconds and placing 18th. Rains rounded out the Blue Jays, placing 22nd in 8.47 seconds. 

Junior Brier Skogsberg placed 9th in the 3000-meter run, finishing with a final time of 11:22.40. 

The Blue Jays will compete next in the Jim Green Invitational hosted by Illinois College on Saturday, February 7, in Jacksonville, Illinois. The meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
