Hahn and Houston Named SLIAC Players of the Week

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the players of the week for the week of March 16-22, and Westminster's softball pitcher Alyson Hahn and track & field runner and jumper Anna Houston were selected for their respective sports.

Pitcher Alyson Hahn, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Mo., appeared in three games last week for the Blue Jays picking up a win and a save. Hahn won game one of a doubleheader against Principia, going five innings and allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out seven. She entered in game two of the doubleheader to pitch the final three innings and record the save, allowing one run while striking out five. Hahn also made a start against Coe and took the loss, despite going seven innings and allowing just one run. On the week, Hahn finished with a 1.40 earned-run average with 17 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched while allowing just 10 hits.

Anna Houston, a freshman from Union, Mo., made the most of her collegiate debut, with three top three finishes and four program records at the Culver-Stockton Wildcat Open. Houston took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.36 meters. She followed with a second place finish in the high jump, at 1.34 meters, and a third place finish in the long jump, 5.01 meters. In addition Houston competed in the 100-meter hurdles in the track portion, finishing fourth, and setting a fourth event record for the Blue Jays.

The softball team is back on the field on Wednesday with a home doubleheader versus Illinois College, and the track and field team is back in action on Friday with a two day invitational at Washington University (Mo.).
