Two Records Broken, One Established at Prin Relays

The Westminster men's track and field team competed in the Prin Relays hosted by Principia College on Friday, January 30th.  The Westminster Blue Jays broke two records and established one record at the meet.

On the Track

The 3000-meter run record continues to be broken this season. Junior Jesse Edwards surpassed the record this meet with a 9:15.15 performance and a 7th place finish. Senior Daniel Lindaman finished just seconds later, placing 9th with a 9:20.66 time. 

The Blue Jays competed in the 300-meter dash for the first time in school history. Senior Dan Breihan established the record with a 40.41 time. Junior Bret Robertson and freshman Latif Adams also competed in the event. Robertson finished with a time of 41.64, and Adams crossed in 42.01 seconds. 

Three Blue Jays competed in the 60-meter dash. Adams crossed the line first, placing 36th with a time of 7.64. Breihan finished just after, placing 38th with a time of 7.74. Robertson rounded out the trio, finishing in 8.03 seconds. 

Freshman Chandler Yeary competed in the mile run, placing 28th with a final time of 4:51.27.

 

On The Field

Senior Michael Lutz threw the weight throw for the second time in school history. He improved from last week, resetting the record at 10.57-meters. 

Freshman Logan Shoemaker, junior Christian Houston and Lutz threw shot put at the meet. Shoemaker placed 14th with a 13.15-meter throw. Houston placed 29th with an 11.15-meter throw, and Lutz rounded out the Blue Jays with a 10.07-meter throw. 

Breihan placed 12th in the long jump with a 5.38-meter jump. 

 

The Blue Jays will compete next in the Jim Green Invitational hosted by Illinois College on Saturday, February 7, in Jacksonville, Illinois. The meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m.
