Men's Squad Takes 9th In Final Indoor Meet

The Westminster men's track and field team rounded out their indoor season with a ninth place finish out of 12 at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge. Senior Michael Lutz broke the weight throw record at the meet. 

On The Track

Freshman Latif Adams, senior Dan Breihan and sophomore Tj Tjikuzu all finished 60-meter dash. Adams placed 17th with a time of 7.56. Breihan and Tjikuzu followed with 18th (7.65) and 19th (7.73) place finishes, respectively. 

Freshman Glenn Teubner placed ninth in the 5000-meter run, finishing in 9:41.09. 

Teubner, senior Daniel Lindaman and junior Jesse Edwards all competed and placed in the 5000-meter run. Edwards placed third in the run with a time of 16:15.04, earning the Blue Jays six points. Lindaman finished in 16:24.76, placing fourth and earning the team five points. Teubner rounded out the squad with a fifth place finish (16:39.44) and four points. 

 

On The Field

Lutz cotinues to exceed in the weight throw, throwing over a meter more than the record to reset it at 11.60 meters. 

The Blue Jays had six compete in the shot put. Freshman Logan Shoemaker placed 13th, finishing first for the Blue Jays with a 12.62m throw. Freshman Sam Kroll-Taugsolo placed 15th with a 12.12m throw, and junior Christian Houston threw 11.51m and placed 17th. Senior Louvis Johnson, Lutz and freshman Jaleel Hood rounded out the Blue Jays with throws of 9.81m, 9.39m, and 6.20m, respectively. 

 

The Blue Jays will take a break until the outdoor season begins on Saturday, March 21 at the Wildcat Open hosted by Culver-Stockton.
