The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the players of the week for the week of April 13-19, and Westminster College had two athletes receiving the award. The award winners for Westminster include junior baseball player Tyler Branneky and junior thrower Bret Robertson.
Tyler Branneky, a junior infielder from St. Louis, Mo., picked up his second straight weekly honor and third this season after helping his team pick up a pair of conference series sweeps last week. Branneky had three multi-hit games and hits in all five contests, finishing with a .556 batting average and three home runs with 14 runs batted in. He was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in game one of a double header against Blackburn. Branneky then went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a home run in game one of a three game series against Iowa Wesleyan. On the week, Branneky finished with seven runs scored and 10 hits in five games, recording a .692 on base percentage.
Bret Robertson, a junior from California, Mo., finished second this weekend in the javelin throw while competing at the Missouri S&T Invitational. Robertson recorded a distance of 51.97 meters with the throw.
The Blue Jays also had two athletes in the "other notables" section:
- Alyson Hahn, Westminster College (Softball) Hahn allowed just one hit in a win over Spalding, going seven innings and striking out five.
- Deion Hughes, Westminster College (Baseball) Hughes made two apperances this week, recording a win and save. Hughes struck out a total of eight batters in eight innings, walking one and allowing just four hits.
