Two Records Shattered to Open Indoor Season at Missouri Invitational

Westminster began their 2015 indoor track and field season with two records being shattered at the Missouri Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri.

On the track, freshman Glenn Teubner broke the 3000-meter run record by two seconds. He placed 11th, crossing the finish line in 9:24.38. Following him was senior Daniel Lindaman and junior Jesse Edwards, placing 14th (9:34.63) and 15th (9:46.85), respectively.

Tuebner also ran the mile run, placing 14th with a time of 4:50.47. Freshman Chandler Yeary followed, placing 15th with a time of 5:04.27.

On the field, freshman Logan Shoemaker made his way to the finals with his throw of 13.23 meters. The throw shattered the previously held record by over three meters.

Junior Christian Houston and senior Mike Lutz also threw the shotput. Houston threw 10.09 meters, and Lutz threw 9.84.

"We were a little overwhelmed by division one and two teams, but it was good to go to a meet so close," stated Head Coach Jim Marshall.

The Blue Jays will compete in the Snow Bird Open hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on Saturday, January 24.
