Blue Jays Shine In 3-0 Victory Over Stephens College Stars

Fulton, Mo 9/9/2023- The Westminster College women's soccer team had their home opener in the new Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they welcomed in the Stephens College Stars. The Blue Jays would find the back of the net three times, twice in the first half and once again at the end of the second half to get their first win of the season and improve to 1-2 on the season. Stephens College falls to 1-4 on the year.

The Blue Jays would strike in the first five minutes of the game when Lauren Halamicek would send a cross into the box and find her sister Kaitlyn Halamicek in front of the net for her first goal of the season and put Westminster 1-0 early in the contest.

Freshman Faith Coates, playing in her first collegiate game, would score her first career goal and put the Blue Jays up 2-0 in the 16th minute, courtesy of an assist from Savannah Feltrop.

Then to cap the game off, Rachel Nolte, playing in her first game in two years, would score in the 89th minute to secure the 3-0 victory for the Blue Jays.

Goalie Megan Davidson would face five shots on goal and would save all five for her first clean sheet of the season.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday, September 12th when Nebraska Wesleyan comes to Fulton for a 4:00 PM kickoff.
