Blue Jays Down Panthers 2-0

Elsah, IL 10/18/2023- The Westminster College women's soccer team took on the Principia College Panthers in Elsah, Illinois on Tuesday. The Blue Jays wasted little time scoring in the game, netting their first goal in the first eight minutes. They would score again in the 38th minute and win the game 2-0. The Blue Jays improved to 5-6-1 on the season and 3-2-1 in the SLIAC, putting them in fourth place with three games remaining. The Panthers fall to 2-10-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in the SLIAC. They are currently in seventh place in the conference standings. 

Madi Lenk scored her first goal of the season in the 8th minute, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead. Freshman Faith Coates would score in the 38th minute after a pass from Rachel Nolte put her in scoring position. Coates would net her fourth goal of the season and give Westminster a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half. 

Megan Davidson would stop all seven shots she faced in goal, leading the Blue Jays to a 2-0 conference win and her fourth shutout of the season. 

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Saturday, October 21st when Blackburn College comes to town on senior night. The game will begin at 8 pm.
