Blue Jays Defeat Scots 3-0 In SLIAC Opener   

Batesville, AR 9/22/2023- The Westminster College women's soccer team traveled to Batesville, Arkansas to take on SLIAC newcomer, Lyon College, to start the conference season. The Blue Jays would dominate the game and win 3-0 to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the SLIAC. The Scots fell to 3-4 overall and 0-1 after their SLIAC debut.   

Freshman Allie Auer would score her first collegiate goal in the 21st minute to give Westminster an early 1-0 lead. The Scots would commit a foul in the box that led to a penalty kick for the Blue Jays in the 30th minute. Savannah Feltrop would step up to take the PK and she would beat the Scots keeper to score her first goal of the season and give Westminster a commanding 2-0 lead. Then, in the 85th minute, Annalise Beck would score the first goal of the season and give the Blue Jays the 3-0 victory.   

The Blue Jays would control all facets of the game, taking twenty-one shots, twelve of them on goal. Their defense would hold Lyon to only three shot attempts in the game and two of them would be on goal. Westminster goalie Megan Davidson would get the start in goal and make one save. Mia Turner would take over in the second half and she would make a save as well.   

Next up for the Blue Jays is a battle against Webster University on Saturday, September 30th in St. Louis, MO. That game kicks off at 4:30 pm.
