Fulton, MO 9/7/2023- The Westminster College volleyball team hosted cross-town William Woods University for their home opener. The Blue Jays came into the match 1-2 after their weekend tournament in Chicago, Illinois. The Owls entered tonight's contest 7-1 and are already looking in mid-season form.

The Blue Jays would take the first set, defeating the Owls 25-22 to win the first set. William Woods would win sets 2 and 3 handily. The fourth set was a back-and-forth battle that looked like it was heading towards set number five, but the Owls would pull away to win the set 25-20, and win the match 3-1. William Woods improves to 8-1 on the season and the Blue Jays would fall to 1-3 in the early stages of the 2023 season.

Malena Bixby recorded her second double-double of the season by having 13 kills and 14 digs. Kyle Hasselbacher also continued to impress as the newcomer had 14 kills in the match and had a .209 kill percentage. Head Coach Dalton Tucker dipped into his bench, playing fourteen different players in the match as the Blue Jays are still adjusting to a lot of new faces on the squad.

Westminster will have a quick turnaround as they prepare for a match against Stephens College on Saturday, September 9th. That match is set to take place at 11:00 AM in Columbia, Missouri.
