The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2015 Softball Preseason Poll and Westminster was chosen fourth with 54 points.
The Blue Jays will be led by new head coach Joe Henderson. Henderson takes over a young team, with no seniors on the roster, and brings back five starters from last year's team that was 14-22 overall and 11-7 in the SLIAC.
The Blue Jays will lean on sophomore outfielder Allison Biggs, who hit .347 with six home runs and 26 RBIs last season while earning First Team All-Conference honors.
Bree Peterson, a sophomore, is a versatile player and hit .330 last year while finishing second on the team in stolen bases with seven.
Alyssa Johnson, a sophomore catcher, played in all 36 games as a true freshman last season, throwing out seven base-runners.
Also returning are starters Liz Carthen and Anne Baker.
The Blue Jays will need to replace three time All-Conference pitcher Brittany Lee and will look to returner Alyson Hahn and newcomers Shannon Perrigo and Abby Bartley to challenge for that spot.
Transfers Brittany Hodge and Kelsi Hill add more depth for the Blue Jays who increased their roster size to 20 players.
The Blue Jays open the 2015 season at the Warrior Spring Fling hosted by Hendrix College on Feb. 28-March 1.
