Blue Jays Suffer Two Losses At Fontbonne

The Westminster softball team were defeated by Fontbonne University in two games on Thursday evening. The 4-0 and 23-3 (5 inn.) losses bring the Blue Jays to 10-17 overall and 7-7 in conference, while Fontbonne moved to a perfect 16-0 in conference play and an impressive 23-9 overall. 

Fontbonne put up runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings of game one. The Blue Jays grabbed three hits, including a double by sophomore Kelsi Hill in the sixth inning. 

Sophomore pitcher Alyson Hahn suffered the loss on the mound. She pitched the complete game and struck out three. 

Fontbonne put up a combined 15 runs in the first two innings of game two.

The Blue Jays scored on Hill's RBI single up the middle in the third inning, and the Blue Jays held Fontbonne from scoring in the bottom of the inning.

The Blue Jays added two more runs in the fourth inning with RBI singles by freshman Peyton Hall and sophomore Madison McKindley, but Fontbonne grabbed eight more runs in the fourth to win the game 23-3. 

Freshman pitcher Abby Bartley (1-6) suffered the loss on the mound after pitching the first two innings of the game. 

The Blue Jays continue their stretch with a home doubleheader versus Washington University (Mo.) on Friday, April 17. First pitch is at 4:00 p.m.
