LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Westminster women's basketball team fell to the Spalding Golden Eagles 85-60 on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays drop to 10-7 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action while Spalding improves to 12-5 to move into a tie with Greenville for third place in the conference.

Spalding opened the game with two three-pointers sandwiched between a Kallee Dowler layup to take a 6-2 lead. The Blue Jays tied the game at 6-6 with baskets from Mikalyn Callahan and Abbie Reece. The Golden Eagles went back ahead on a free throw before Callahan made a layup to put Westminster up 8-7. After Callahan's bucket, Spalding broke off a 14-2 run over the final six-plus minutes of the quarter to take a 21-10 lead going into the second quarter. Spalding continued to outpace Westminster in the second to extend their lead to 18 points at halftime.

The offensive play for both teams picked up in the third quarter with the Golden Eagles shooting 70% from the field and the Blue Jays making four three-points. However, Spalding remained in control of the game, extending their lead to as many as 28 points late in the fourth before taking the game 85-60.

Reese Arnold scored 13 points to lead the Blue Jays followed by Dowler with 12. Callahan grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and added eight points.

Next up the Blue Jays will host MacMurray on Saturday in the last game of the season. Before the game, the Blue Jays will hold a Senior Day ceremony for seniors Mikalyn Callahan, Rei Imamura, and Kendal Miller.
