GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Westminster women's basketball team suffered an 81-58 loss to Greenville on Wednesday night in their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. The Blue Jays fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference.

After Greenville opened the game with a three-pointer, the Blue Jays went on an 8-0 run when Abbie Reece and Reese Arnold each put up four points. The Panthers scored off a layup to make the score 8-5 before Jackie Arnold made two free throws to give Westminster a 10-5 lead. Greenville cut the lead to 10-8 after a jumper and a free throw before Kallee Dowler buried a three and Jackie Arnold made a layup to extend Westminster's lead to 15-8. The Panthers made a layup and Westminster closed out the first quarter with 15-10 lead.

Westminster extended their lead to seven points off a jumper by Jackie Arnold before the Panthers responded with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 17-17. A three-pointer by Reese Arnold put Westminster back on top 20-17 and Dowler made a layup to make the score 22-17. The Panthers cut the lead to 22-21 with a pair of layups before Dowler made two free throws to give Blue Jays a three point lead. Greenville took the lead back 26-25 with two layups before Mikalyn Callahan made a foul shot to tie the game with 5:10 left in the half. However, Greenville outscored Westminster 13-2 over the final 5:10 to take a 38-27 lead into halftime.

The Panthers continued to control the game in the second half, outscoring the Blue Jays 43-31 win the game 81-58.

Reese Arnold put up a game-high 18 points and tied Abby Nichols for second on the team in rebounds with six.

Callahan led the Blue Jays in rebounding with 12 boards, steals with four and assists with four. She rounded out her stat sheet with eight points and tied Alexandria Dyson for the team lead in blocks with two. 

Dowler and Jackie Arnold each recorded 10 points for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays will return home to play Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
