3/20/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster Blue Jays opened their Spring Break schedule in Florida with two tough losses, falling 14-0 to Geneseo and 9-5 to Plattsburgh. Despite a rough start in the opener, the Blue Jays showed resilience in Game 2, keeping things competitive with a stronger offensive effort. They will look to bounce back tomorrow (March 20) with matchups against Bates and Hope.
Game 1: Geneseo 14, Westminster 0 (5 Innings)
Westminster struggled against a dominant Geneseo squad, managing just three hits while allowing 14 runs in five innings. Geneseo set the tone early with a five-run first inning before adding eight more in the third to put the game out of reach.
Offensively, Paige Cruzan, Kenzie Weber, and Taylor Engelmeyer each recorded a hit, but the Blue Jays couldn't string together enough baserunners to generate any scoring opportunities.
Game 2: Plattsburgh 9, Westminster 5
The Blue Jays responded with a much better effort in Game 2, staying within striking distance before a six-run fifth inning from Plattsburgh turned the tide.
Westminster's offense came alive early, with Weber delivering RBI hits in the first two innings. Raigan McKee provided a spark with a solo home run in the fifth, while Cruzan made a major contribution to the offense, hitting 4 for 5. The Blue Jays finished with nine hits, but defensive miscues and timely hitting from Plattsburgh proved too much to overcome.
Westminster will look to regroup and secure its first Florida win when it faces Bates and Hope tomorrow. With their offense finding some rhythm in Game 2, the Blue Jays will aim to pair it with a stronger defensive performance to turn the tide in their favor.
