Women’s Soccer Topples Eureka, 8-0

The Westminster women's soccer team shut out Eureka on Saturday to win their fourth consecutive game. The 8-0 win keeps the Westminster Blue Jays undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record and brings them to 6-4-1 on the season.

Senior Tayisah Pohtos scored the first goal of the game just four minutes in with junior Amy Greene's assist. Sophomore Morgan Henry scored shortly after with Pohto's assist to bring the Blue Jays up 2-0 just seven minutes into the game.

Freshman Gracie Koonce scored the third goal of the game with senior Eileen Koppy's assist. Pohtos scored her second goal on the day just a minute later another Koppy assist.

Sophomore Payton Beeler scored with Greene's second assist of the day in the 21st minute, and junior Adrienne Ebersole scored the final goal of the half with the assist from senior Erin DeVasto to send the Blue Jays into halftime with the 6-0 lead. 

Freshman Courtney Whitlock scored the first goal of the second half with Koppy's third assist on the day. Koonce scored the final goal in the 53rd minute to win the game 8-0.

Outside of their eight goals, the Blue Jays took nine shots-on-goal. Beeler led the game with five shots-on-goal.

The Blue Jay defense held Eureka to no shots throughout the 90 minutes of play. 

Junior goalkeeper Ellen Woolsey (6-4-1) grabbed the win in goal. She spent the first 45 minutes in net and saw no action. Freshman keeper Ali Perry was in net the second half but also saw no action. 

The Blue Jays will face Webster on Tuesday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m. Webster and Westminster tied for first in conference and are the only two teams still undefeated.
