Westminster's junior Deion Hughes has been named to the 2015 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America team. Hughes earned Honorable Mention honors as a utility player by D3baseball.com. The Pre-Season All-Americans are compiled by using previous years' All-American and All-Region teams.
Hughes, from Jefferson City, Mo., was the first baseball player in program history to be named to the ABCA All-American Second Team last season. He earned First Team All-Central Region honors and was named to the SLIAC First Team All-Conference last season.
Hughes helped his team to a 21-14 overall record. Hughes is leader for the Blue Jays both at the plate and on the mound. He hit .361 last season with one home run and 26 runs batted in with an on-base percentage of .434. On the rubber, Hughes made nine starts, going 8-1, with a 1.94 earned-run average and 79 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched.
