FULTON, Mo. – The Westminster men's basketball team showcased their ability to shoot the long ball on Saturday afternoon, going 16-37 from beyond the arc in an 84-56 win over Spalding. The Blue Jays improve to 5-3 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with the win.

The Blue Jays never trailed in the game, opening the contest on a 7-2 run. After the first 10 minutes of play Westminster held a 27-10 lead thanks to three treys from Ethan Thompson. Will Suellentrop extended the Westminster lead to 40-20 with 3:22 left in the first half with a layup. However, the Golden Eagles used a 10-0 run to cut the lead in half going into halftime.

Thompson had 13 points at the half to lead the Blue Jays followed by Landon Harrison with 10. Suellentrop chipped in seven points off the bench.

The Golden Eagles cut the lead to eight points with a pair of free throws before Harrison knocked down a three-pointer to put the Blue Jays back up by double-digits. After a three from Spalding, Jaxon Althaus put the Blue Jays up by 12 after making a jumper and breakaway dunk off a steal. The Blue Jays continued to shoot the ball in the second quarter, going 9-18 from three-point territory and cruised to an 84-56 win.

Harrison finished the game with 19 points and shot 5-6 from the three-point line. Thompson (17 points) and Emil Spriggs (12 points) both finished in double figures.

Sullentrop finished the game with nine points and tied Trenton Barbour for the team lead in rebounds with seven. Steven Brandt added six points off the bench while Omar Wright led the team with five assists.

The Blue Jays will return to action on Wednesday night at MacMurray
