Westminster Men's Basketball Picked Seventh in SLIAC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS – The Westminster men's basketball team has been voted to finish seventh in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference by the conference's coaches. Webster was picked to finish first, followed by Greenville and Eureka.

Junior Steven Brandt is the top returning scorer for the Blue Jays. Brandt played in all 25 games last season and made two starts, averaging 5.7 points-per-game. Also returning is sophomore Makygh Galbreath who played in 21 games last season as a freshman. Both will look to step up following the departure of all five starters from last season.

In addition to the returners, head coach Matt Mitchell has filled his roster with a talented class of newcomers. Two newcomers who look to contribute are sophomore guard Landon Harrison and sophomore forward Jaxon Althaus. Both players join the Blue Jays after previously playing at Columbia College. Another transfer to watch is Emil Spriggs who joins Westminster from North Central Missouri College.

The Blue Jays open their season with an exhibition game at Columbia College on Wednesday Nov. 6th. Westminster will play their first home game of the season on Monday Nov. 11th against Central Christian College of the Bible.
