Westminster Men's Basketball Defeated by Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Westminster men's basketball was defeated by Spalding 77-68 in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays fall to 7-10 in SLIAC play with the loss while the Golden Eagles move to 4-13 in conference play.

With the game tied at 5-5 after four minutes of play, the Golden Eagles scored nine straight points to take a 14-5 lead with 13:35 to go in the half. The Blue Jays answered with three-pointers from Landon Harrison and Ethan Thompson to cut the lead to 14-11 before Spalding matched them with a pair of treys to bring the lead back to nine. Westminster cut the lead down to three points twice towards the end of the half, but the Golden Eagles continued to hold them off and when the clock struck zero for the first half Spalding held a 43-34 lead over Westminster.

Spalding maintained their lead throughout the second half despite committing 10 turnovers. Like the first half, the Blue Jays continued to put pressure on Spalding but could not take the lead, ultimately falling 77-68.

Harrison registered a double-double for Westminster with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jaxon Althaus added 14 points and Thompson scored 12 for the Blue Jays.

Westminster will finish the season on Saturday when they host MacMurray.
