11/19/2024 Fulton, MO- The Westminster College men's basketball team faced Knox College on Tuesday night, coming up short in a 77-59 loss. Despite a competitive first half that saw the Blue Jays trailing by just one point, 36-35, Knox pulled away in the second half with a dominant performance.
Westminster was led by senior forward Ben Eberlin, who delivered a strong showing with 14 points and 8 rebounds, shooting an efficient 5-6 from the field. Guard Walker Gohring also contributed 13 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist, while Jack Fessenden added 8 points, including two three-pointers.
Knox capitalized on Westminster's offensive struggles, particularly from the free-throw line, where the Blue Jays shot just 43.5% (10-23). Turnovers also plagued Westminster, as they gave the ball away 22 times compared to Knox's 18. The rebounding battle further highlighted Knox's dominance, with the visitors grabbing 58 boards to Westminster's 35.
The loss moves Westminster to 0-3 on the season. The Blue Jays will aim to regroup and improve their consistency as they prepare for the Webster Classic Tournament this weekend, where they will face Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, November 22nd, at 6:00PM and Centre College on Saturday, November 23rd, at 1:00PM, both at Grant Gymnasium in St. Louis, Missouri.
