01/30/2025 Columbus, MS- Westminster College narrowly fell to Mississippi University for Women, 66-65, in a hard-fought conference matchup on Thursday night. The Blue Jays trailed 34-29 at halftime but responded with a strong second half, outscoring MUW 36-32. Despite their efforts, Westminster was unable to complete the comeback in the final moments.
Walker Gohring led the way offensively with 26 points, shooting 10-for-17 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range while also contributing four rebounds and three assists. Luke Abeln added 11 points and six rebounds, knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Jamile Johnson controlled the boards with a team-high eight rebounds while chipping in seven points. Kolton Garner finished with eight points, and Gavin Hendrix provided a boost off the bench with five points and four rebounds.
Westminster shot efficiently at 45.5% from the field and 38.1% from beyond the arc, but turnovers and second-chance opportunities proved costly down the stretch. The Blue Jays will head to Batesville, Arkansas to face Lyon College this Saturday, February 1st to continue conference play. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00PM
