St. Louis, MO 10/29/2022- The Westminster College men's soccer team traveled to St. Louis for the final game of the regular season to take on the Fontbonne University Griffins. The game was tied 0-0 for the first sixty-four minutes of action. That would change when the Griffins found the back of the net in the sixty-fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays would strike back and tie the game 1-1 in the eighty-ninth minute and that would be the final score of the game. The Blue Jays finish the season 3-10-5 overall and 3-6-5 in the SLIAC. The Griffins end 6-6-8 overall and 5-5-4 in the SLIAC.

Westminster controlled most of the game, only allowing Fontbonne to take five shots total and two of them were on goal with one being a goal. The Jays took fourteen shots and had eight shots on goal but were denied by the Griffins keeper seven times.

Tigran Topchain (Kansas City, MO / Blue Valley Northwest) picked a good time to find his first goal of the season off the assist by Nathan Naumann (O'Fallon, MO / Fort Zumwalt West). Ari Lieberman (Chesterfield, MO / Parkway Central) had three shots on goal in a row in the 55th, 56th, and 57th minute but none of them were able to find the back of the net. Niklas Olsson (Kansas City, MO / Liberty) would also have two shots on goal for the Jays.

The Blue Jays are the fifth seed in the conference tournament, and they will play Fontbonne again as they are the fourth seed. That game will be in St. Louis at Fontbonne University. The game is set to kick-off at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, November 1st.
