Women’s Soccer Defeated by Millikin

Decatur, Ill. – The Blue Jay women's soccer team was defeated by Millikin University by a score of 3-1. The Blue Jays drop to 0-2 on the season.

The Big Blue scored early off a turnover in the 15th to go up 1-0. Despite being outshot 10-2 in the first half, Westminster went into halftime only down a goal. Senior goalie Sarah Cradick (Maryland Heights, Mo. / Pattonville) made two saves in the first half. Cradick played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves.

Millikin added a second goal on a header off of a throw in to go up 2-0 in the 53rd minute. They scored again in the 58th minute on a breakaway goal.

The Blue Jays got on the scoreboard in the 71st minute when freshman defender Emily Siegel (Liberty, Mo. / Liberty) found the back of the net off of a free kick following a Big Blue foul. The goal was Sigel's first of her career and the first Westminster goal of the season. Sigel led the team with two shots, both of which were on goal.

The Blue Jays return home to play Rhodes on Friday Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
