Greenville Defeats Westminster Women’s Soccer in 2OT

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Westminster women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss in overtime Saturday at Greenville. The Blue Jays drop to 0-8-1 and 0-1 in conference play.

Greenville scored first with a goal in the 22nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Westminster tied the game in the 33rd minute when a mistake by the Panthers led to an own goal that tied the score at 1-1.

The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1 with the Greenville outshooting Westminster 8-5. Neither team scored in the second half to force overtime.

The Panthers recorded the only shot in the first overtime period on a ball that was kicked wide of the net. In the second overtime period Greenville was able to find the back of the net to come out with a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Sarah Cradick played the entire game in net for Westminster and made seven saves. Emily Siegel recorded two shots on goal for the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays will play again on Wednesday at Spalding.
