Westminster Women's Soccer Takes Down MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – A pair of goals from Kate Ponder helped the Westminster women's soccer defeat MacMurray 4-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays are now 4-8-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in conference.

Westminster scored three goals in the first half. Natalie Schulte buried her eight goal of the season 6:44 into the match to put the Blue Jays up 1-0. The Blue Jays scored their second goal on the game in the 12th minute when Kate Ponder found the back of the net. Alaina Allsbury recorded the assist on Ponder's goal.

In the 20th minute Madison Ekern scored her third goal of the season on a shot that beat the MacMurray goalie high. Kelsey Gordan picked up the assist on the goal.

Ponder scored her second goal of the game in the 61st minute to put Westminster up 4-0. With her two goals today Ponder now has six goals on the season, good for second most on the team. Ponder led Westminster with four shots in the game.

MacMurray only managed a single shot in the game. The shot, which came in the 18th minute sailed over the net high and to the right.

Sarah Cradick played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue Jay. With today's win she extends her scoreless streak to 463.24 minutes.

The Blue Jays will return home to play Fontbonne on Saturday afternoon.
