Fulton, Mo 4/18/2023- The Westminster College Blue Jays baseball team played in a single game against the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers. The Tigers beat the Blue Jays 16-8.

The Blue Jays started Freshman Coy Smith (Marshall, Mo/ Marshall). Smith went 4 innings facing 23 batters, giving up 10 hits and striking out 2 batters. In relief for Smith was Sam Owen (Katy, Tx./ Cinco Ranch), Nathan Shepard (Warrenton, Mo. / Warrenton), Jake Waeltermann (Barnhart, Mo/ Seckman), and Kobe Allen (Maryland Heights, Mo/ Pattonville). Together the relievers went 5 innings facing 29 batters, giving up 10 hits and striking out 2.

Offensively, the Blue Jays got 10 hits scoring 8 runs. Troy Romero (Trophy Clubs, TX/ Byron Nelson), Quin Adelson (Louisville, KY/ North Oldham) and Skyler Bushey (Saint Albans, VT/ Bellows Free Academy) led the Blue Jays offensively. Romero went 2-2 scoring 3 runs and an RBI. Adelson went 2-3 with a two-run bomb to left field, he ended the game getting 3 RBIs and scored 1 run himself. Skyler Bushey went 1-3 with a home run to right field that hit the Wetterau Center.

The Blue Jays have another game tomorrow on the road against Hannibal- LaGrange. The start time for that game is 1 P.M.
