The Blue Jays Start The Weekend Off Strong

Fulton, MO 03/10/23- The Westminster College Baseball Team played Hannibal-La Grange Friday. They would end up winning the game 17-7. The Blue Jays started the game strongly and never let off.

 

The Blue Jays started Junior pitcher Trent Morrow (Russellville, Mo. / Russellville). Morrow didn't let The Trojans touch him. He threw 4 innings, giving up one hit and striking out 8. The Trojans had a hard time against the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays had some help coming out of the bullpen this game as well. Relief pitchers that helped Hayden Torpey (Independence, Mo / Truman) came in the game pitched 1 inning, and struck out 3 of 6 batters he faced. Dawson Willard (Lookeba-Sickles, OK / Lookeba-Sickles) faced 5 batters and struck out 2 batters. The Trojans had a rally of 6 runs and then Nathan Shepard (Warrenton, Mo. / Warrenton) came in to pitch and shut them down. The Blue Jays Shut the door and scored 8 in the last 2 innings. Blue Jays offensively destroyed the bats getting 13 hits. The whole Blue Jay lineup helped Morrow get his win. Sophomore Shortstop Ian Bello (Naples, FL / Seacrest Country Day School) got 4 RBIs and went 2-2 on the day. Junior Dawson Schuemann (Jefferson City, Mo. / Jefferson City) went 2-2 and got 3 RBIs.

 

The Blue Jays will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 10th as they take on Grinnell College at Rock Bridge High School. Weather Permitting.
