Blue Jays Fall To Golden Eagles In SLIAC Tournament Semi-Final

O'Fallon, Mo 5/11/2023- The Westminster College Blue Jays baseball team faced Spalding University Golden Eagles. The Blue Jays won the last series they played against them at home. Today the Blue Jays lost 20-0. 


On the mound for the Blue Jays Bode Gebbink got the call. Gebbink pitched 4 innings facing 25 batters and gave up 9 hits, 6 earned runs, and got 4 strikeouts. Coming in from the bullpen was a handful of Blue Jays. Nathan Shepard, Ben Kennebeck, Brayden Knittel, and lastly Jackson Kespohl. Shepard pitched 1.1 innings facing 11 batters and gave up 5 hits. After Shepard Kennebeck came in and pitched 1 innings facing 8 batters and gave up 2 hits. Knittel came in after pitching 0.2 innings facing 8 batters and gave up 3 hits. Kespohl ended the game going 1 inning facing 6 batters and giving up 1 hit. The Blue Jays pitching did not show the strength that they had during the regular season. 

Offensively for the Blue Jays in total got 5 hits. Senior Spencer Kaiser went 2-3 with 2 base hits. Senior Steven Diaz went 1-3 and got a walk. Sophomore Skyler Bushey went 1-2. Freshman Troy Romero went 1-4. The Blue Jays look to get the bats rolling in their next match-up against Eureka tomorrow. 

The Blue Jays look to keep their playoff dreams alive tomorrow at 11 am back at Car Shield Field.
