Westminster Falls to Bates and Hope

3/21/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster Blue Jays faced another tough day in Florida, dropping both games on Friday, falling 9-0 to Bates and 8-0 to Hope. The Blue Jays were held scoreless in both contests, struggling to generate consistent offense. Westminster will have a one-day break before returning to action on March 23 against Wisconsin-Platteville and Colby.

Game 1: Bates 9, Westminster 0 (5 Innings)

Bates jumped ahead early and never looked back, scoring in four of the five innings while holding Westminster to just four hits. A six-run third inning put the game out of reach, as the Bobcats took advantage of Blue Jay's defensive mistakes and timely hitting.

Kendall Weber led the Westminster offense with a 2-for-2 performance, while Paige Cruzan and Destiny Rosario each added a hit. However, the Blue Jays were unable to string together hits, leaving six runners on base.

Game 2: Hope 8, Westminster 0 (6 Innings)

Westminster's offensive struggles continued in the second game of the day, as Hope limited the Blue Jays to just one hit in a dominant shutout victory. Hope struck early with three runs in the first inning and added three more in the third to build an insurmountable lead.

Rosario recorded the lone hit for Westminster, while the Blue Jays' defense committed two errors that helped Hope extend its lead. Westminster couldn't capitalize on its limited baserunners, leaving two stranded.

The Blue Jays will look to regroup and find their offensive rhythm when they return to action on Sunday, March 23, with matchups against Wisconsin-Platteville and Colby. With one day off, Westminster will aim to make adjustments and bounce back in their campaign at their Florida trip.
