5/4/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster softball team celebrated its seniors with a doubleheader against Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on Saturday, May 3. The Blue Jays split the series, securing a 3-2 victory in Game 1 before falling 7-2 in the second contest.
Game 1: Westminster 3, MUW 2
On a day to honor the contributions of the team's seniors, Westminster made the most of key opportunities in the opener. Payton Dudenhoeffer earned the complete game win, allowing just two earned runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking one.
Offensively, the Blue Jays were efficient. Kendall Weber led the way with two hits and a run scored, while Ellie Bedsworth delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning that proved to be the game-winner. Raigan McKee and Chloe Ferguson also contributed RBIs in a game where Westminster capitalized on MUW's lone error.
Game 2: MUW 7, Westminster 2
In the second game, Westminster couldn't keep pace with the Owls' 14-hit attack. Despite getting on the board early via a sacrifice fly from Taylor Engelmeyer, the Blue Jays were held to just three hits on the game.
The pitching rotation of Caroline Bentley and Haley Miller allowed only four earned runs, but MUW's consistent pressure at the plate and late scoring in the seventh sealed the win for the visitors. Tatum Bradshaw drove in Westminster's final run in the bottom of the seventh with a clutch RBI single.
The Blue Jays will close out their regular season on the road at Eureka on Sunday, May 4.
