Westminster Drops Both Games at Spalding

4/28/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster Blue Jays traveled to Louisville on Sunday but came away empty-handed, dropping both games of a doubleheader against Spalding University.

In Game 1, Westminster's offense was quiet as they fell 8-0. The Blue Jays managed just one hit — a single by Paige Cruzan — and struggled to generate scoring opportunities against Spalding's pitching. Madison Plybon started the game in the circle, with Ellie Bedsworth also seeing time, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Game 2 saw Westminster mount a spirited comeback, but a big inning from Spalding led to a 9-7 loss. After falling behind 2-0, Westminster exploded with seven runs during the fourth and fifth inning to briefly take the lead. Kendall Weber, Taylor Engelmeyer, and Chloe Ferguson had a strong showing at the plate, each going 2-for-4 with a total of 2 RBIs and three runs scored. Raigan McKee delivered a two-run double during the fifth-inning surge. However, Spalding answered with a seven-run bottom of the fifth, reclaiming control and holding off the Blue Jays the rest of the way.

Westminster will look to regroup and bounce back when they host Principia College on Monday, April 28.
