The Blue Jay Offense Explodes For 11 Goals

Fulton, MO 10/8/2022- The Westminster women's soccer team took on the Eureka College Red Devils on Saturday and the Blue Jay offense would explode, winning the game 11-0. The Blue Jays improve to 6-3-2 on the season and 5-1-2 in the SLIAC. The Red Devils fall to 2-8-0 and 1-7-0.

The Blue Jays scored five goals in the first half and six goals in the second half. Payton Heevner (Warrensburg, MO / Warrensburg) got things started scoring the first goal of the game within the first two minutes of play. Kelsey Gordon (St. Louis, MO / Lindbergh) would score minutes later. The offense would go quite for a while, then Maddy Lawton (Wentzville, MO / Timberland) found the back of the net after nailing a header after a cross from Annalise Beck (St. Louis, MO / Notre Dame High School). Lauren Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) and Austyn Bruening (Lee's Summit, Mo. / Lutheran) would score near the end of the half to put the Blue Jays up 5-0. Bruening scored her first career goal.

Freshman Hannah Shylanski (O'Fallon,MO / Fort Zumwalt North) wasted little time scoring her fifth goal of the season in the opening minutes of the second half. Kaitlyn Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville) and Skyler English (St. Louis, MO / Rosati-Kain) would both score their second goals of the season. Payton Montana (Barnhart, MO / Seckman) scored her sixth goal of the season at the 62:03 mark and put the Blue Jays up 9-0.

Heevner would score her second goal of the game with five minutes left to play after the assist from Beck. Beck would have three assists in the game, also assisting on Montana's goal. Madi Lenk (Troy, MO / Troy Buchanan High School) would score the eleventh goal of the game as time was running out.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday, October 11th when they take on the Principia Panthers. That game will begin at 5:00 PM.
