Carlinville, IL 10/5/2022- The Westminster College women's soccer team traveled to Carlinville, Illinois for a midday game against the Blackburn College Beavers on Wednesday afternoon. It was all Blue Jays as they shut out the Beavers in a 3-0 victory. Westminster improves to 5-3-2 on the season and 4-1-2 in the SLIAC. The Blue Jays win their second straight, are rolling at the midway point of the season, and are currently tied for second place in the conference alongside Greenville University.

The Blue Jays wasted little time getting on the board. Payton Montana (Barnhart, MO / Seckman) would score at the 5:23 mark to give her team the early 1-0 lead. Lauren Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) would find the back of the net in at 15:45 to give the Blue Jays a commanding 2-0 lead.

Near the end of the game, the Jays would score their third game goal off Skyler English's foot (St. Louis, MO / Rosati-Kain), scoring her first collegiate goal.

The Blue Jays played smothering defense, shutting out the Beavers, not only on the scoreboard, but they did not allow them to take a shot in the game.

The offense had a staggering thirty-nine shots, with nineteen of them being on goal.

They will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th when they host the Eureka College Red Devils. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM
