Fulton, MO 10/19/2022- The Westminster College women's soccer team hosted the Greenville University Panthers on Wednesday night. Coming into the game, the Blue Jays held the second seed in the SLIAC and the Panthers came in tied for third. The two teams had a 1-1 draw when they played at Greenville. It appeared they were on the way to a 0-0 draw in the game tonight until the Blue Jays scored with three seconds left in the game to get the 1-0 victory. With the win, the Blue Jays are 7-2-2 on the season and 8-4-2 in the SLIAC. The Panthers fall to 6-4-1 on the season and 7-6-2 in the SLIAC.

Lauren Halamicek (St. Louis, MO / Oakville High School) scored the game-winning goal to give the Blue Jays the 1-0 lead with three seconds left to play in the game. The Blue Jays won a free ball near midfield and a through ball found Halamicek streaking down the left side. After taking a couple of dribbles, she was one on one with the Panthers goalkeeper and put a shot on goal in the bottom left corner. The Panthers' goalie would contact the ball, but it was not enough to keep the ball out of the net.

Westminster would have twelve shots in the game with five of them being on goal. The Panthers took eight shots in the game, with six of them being on goal. Blue Jay goalie Megan Davidson (St. Louis, MO / Affton High School) would make five saves in the game. She is 6-4-2 on the season in goal and tonight was her fourth clean sheet of the year.

The Blue Jay will be back in action on Saturday, October 22nd when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky to take on Spalding University. That game is set to kick off at 12:00 PM CST.
