Conference Champions! Blue Jays Finish Season Undefeated With 3-0 Shutout Over Spalding

The Westminster men's soccer team completes the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play with an undefeated 9-0 record after Saturday's 3-0 shutout over Spalding University. The win brings the Westminster Blue Jays' record to 15-2 heading into postseason. 

The Blue Jays finish first in the SLIAC, becoming the SLIAC Champions for the third time in five years. 

The Blue Jays scored twice in the first half of the game to take a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Junior Josh Jaycox scored the game-winning goal with senior Daryl Doran's assist in the 15th minute. Senior Kyle Collins scored the second goal after dribbling up the field to shoot and score. Sophomore Tanner Touslee got the assist.

Freshman Peter Plakorus scored the third and final goal of the game in the 86th minute off junior Tripp Sheehan's cross. 

Freshman goalkeeper Tanner Moesch received his first collegiate shutout win. He recorded six saves in his 90 minutes in goal. 

Following the game, the team honored the three seniors, Daryl Doran, Kevin Knobbe and Kyle Collins. 

The Blue Jays will now host Fontbonne onWednesday, November 4, in the semifinal round of the SLIAC Tournament. The game time is 7:00 pm, but the place is TBD.
