Fulton, Mo. - The Westminster College Blue Jay Softball team kicks off their long awaited season this coming Saturday in Clarksville, Ms. It will have been roughly 360 days since the Blue Jays last competed in the COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 season. Head Coach Sara Stafford and her team will take the field at Mississippi University for Women Saturday against Stillman College and Rhodes College first two games of the season. On Sunday morning the Blue Jays will play the host school MUW in a double header

Taking a look at the Westminster College Blue Jays (0-0, 0-0 SLIAC):
- This will be the season opener for the Blue Jays.
- The Blue Jays welcome back Katie Price, Brooke Laidley, Mackenzie Myers and Allison Cook. They are all seniors from last year that are using their "COVID Year" to play.
- Coach Stafford returns five starters from last year's team.
- The Blue Jays return ten letterwinners from last year's team including Casey Ginder, Brooklyn Bledsoe, Allison Cook, Mackenzie Myers, Torie Thurston, Laney Rosson, Katie Price, Brooke Laidley, Susan Buchanan and Abbey Jaspering.
- Coach Stafford and her staff brought in nine new players. One transfer is Erin Carr and eight freshmen including Maddie Marrero, Kelsey Logan, Kayleigh Fike, Kallie Smith, Eva Gannon, Emily Esquivel, Janae Shirk and Summer Boswell.
Taking a look at the Stillman College Tigers (4-2, 0-0 SSAC):
- This will be Stillmans seventh game of the season.
- Last time out the Tigers dropped a double header to Point University 4-0 and 11-0 this past Tuesday.
- At press time the Stillman website had no statistics published for the team.
Taking a look at the Rhodes College Lynx (4-0, 0-0 SCAC):
- Lauren King leads the Lynx hitters with a .692 batting average. She is followed by Katelyn Siekerka, Abby Pons and Leslie Matherne all batting .500 on the young season.
- Lauren King also leads the Lynx on the mound where in two appearances so far she is (2-0) with a 0.00 ERA.
- The Lynx have used four different starting pitchers in their four games this year.
Taking a look at the Mississippi University for Women Owls (0-2, Independant):
- The Owls were last in action on Wednesday where they dropped a double header at William Carey University losing 8-0 in both games.
- Mackenzie Denton leads the Owls at the plate batting .500 in two games. Megan Cummins is hitting .250 for the Owls.
- Denton (0-1) is the Owls top hurler of the young season pitching 6 innings with an ERA of 1.50.
