Fulton, Mo. - The Westminster College Blue Jay Softball team is at home for the first time in over a year as they welcome the Washington University Bears to Blue Jay Field for the home opener. Head Coach Sara Stafford and her team will take the field for a double header on Wednesday March 10th.

 Taking a look at the Westminster College Blue Jays (4-4, 0-0 SLIAC):

  • The Blue Jays were picked to finish second in the 2021 SLIAC Pre-season Softball Coaches Poll.  The Jays received two first place votes.
  • The Blue Jays come into the second week of the season having won three of their last four.
  • Katie Price is the reigning SLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
  • Mackenzie Myers is the reigning SLIAC Hitter of the Week.
  • The Blue Jays are led at the plate by senior Mackenzie Myers who is hitting .571 with two home runs and eight RBI and an on base percentage of .586. Senior Brooke Laidley follows hitting .387 with four doubles and six RBI's.  Emily Esquivel is batting .320.
  • Junior Laney Rosson leads the team with eight walks drawn and an on base percentage at .469.
  • Rosson leads the team in steals with 4 and Esquivel follows her with three thefts.
  • The Blue Jays are led on the mound by senior Katie Price (3-1) with a 3.94 ERA she has 15 strikeouts while allowing eight walks.

Taking a look at the Washington University Bears (1-2, 0-0 UAA):

  • Katie Gould leads the Bears hitters with a .444 batting average with an on base percentage of .545. Nicole Hay is hitting .400 with a triple and three RBI's. Natasha Ramakrishnan is batting .400.
  • Kayla Nommensen leads the Bears in extra base hits with a double and a triple and RBI's with five.
  • Gould leads the team in on base percentage at .545 followed by at .550 and Moore at .536.
  • Madison Denton leads the Bears on the mound where in 3 appearances and one start she is (1-1) with a 6.60 ERA.
