Blue Jays Fall To Neighboring William Woods In Doubleheader

Columbia, Mo 03/10/23- Westminster College Softball team hosts neighboring William Woods in a doubleheader. They would lose game 1 11-2 and lose the second game 10-1.

Game 1- William Woods: Box Score

 The Blue Jays had a tough start to the doubleheader as they lost the first game 11-2.

The Blue Jays started Sophomore Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty). Miller ended up pitching 3.2 innings facing 27 batters and striking out 3. Miller threw 119 pitches with 61 of them being strikes. In relief for Miller, Senior Erin Carr (Woodlawn, Il / Christ Our Rock Lutheran) pitched 1.1 innings, facing 9 batters and striking out 2. The Blue Jays on the offensive side scored 2 runs and got 9 hits off the Owls. Junior Emily Esquivel (San Diego, Ca. / Eastlake) went 1-2 on the day and got a walk. Sophomore Haylee Chandler (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) kept her hitting streak alive and went 2-3. Sophomore Raegen Dickinson (Ozark, MO / Ozark) got a base hit today and went 1-3. Junior Eva Gannon () had herself a day and went 2-3 with an RBI. Freshman Payton Dudenhoeffer (Jefferson City, MO / Helias Catholic) went 1-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Kendall Weber (Lake Saint Louis, MO / Liberty) went 1-2 for the game. Freshman Kennedy Grimsley (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) also went 1-2 on the day as well.

Game 2- William Woods: Box Score

In matchup number 2 of the day The Blue Jays had a tough time facing the potent offense from the Owls as the Blue Jays fell 10-1. The Blue Jays started Freshman Caroline Bentley(Bakersfield, MO / Bakersfield). Bentley ended up pitching 1.2 innings facing 13 batters. Dudenhoeffer came in relief pitching 3.1 innings facing 15 batters and striking out 3 batters. The Blue Jays offensively got 1 run and 2 hits. Chandler went 1-2 in this game and got a run. Dickinson hit a double and got a walk. She ended the day 1-1.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Sunday, March 12th when they host Central Methodist University for a doubleheader. Those games are scheduled for 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
