Blue Jays Drop Heartbreaker On Day 2 Of Spring Games

Clermont, FL 3/25/23- The Westminster College softball team started day 2 of the Spring Break Games. They would lose in a close game to Buffalo State University 6-5 and lose 12-4 to Gust. Adolphus in game 2.

 Game 1- Vs Buffalo State University: Box score

The Blue Jays' offense came alive today, getting 9 hits and scoring 5 runs. Leading the Blue Jay's offense is Junior left fielder Emily Esquivel (San Diego, Ca. / Eastlake) went 3-4 in the game, and Sophomore Haylee Chandler (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) went 1-4, and scored 2 runs. Freshman shortstop Felicity Kirby (Camdenton, MO / Camdenton) going 2-3. On the rubber, today for the Blue Jays is sophomore Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty). Miller ended up pitching 6 innings, getting 8 strikeouts, walking only 2 batters, and giving up 6 earned runs. Miller pitched 133 pitches, 81 of them being strikes.

Game 2- Gust. Adolphus: Box Score

The Blue Jay's offense was still alive in this game but was not strong enough against the Golden Gusties as they scored 12 runs on Westminster. The Blue Jay's offense ended up getting 8 hits and getting 4 runs. Leading the Blue Jays is Junior right fielder Maddie Marrero (Columbia, Mo/ Rock Bridge) going 2-4 with an RBI. Esquivel went 2-2 during the game. Sophomore third baseman Raegen Dickinson (Ozark, MO/ Ozark) going 1-3 with an RBI. Kirby went 1-3 with a double getting an RBI. On the rubber for the Blue Jays in game 2 is Freshman Payton Dudenhoeffer (Jefferson City, MO / Helias Catholic). Dudenhoeffer went 5 innings, giving up 11 hits and striking out 2 batters. Coming in for Dudenhoeffer was freshman Caroline Bently (Bakersfield, MO/ Bakersfield) and Freshman Madison Scott (Oklahoma City, OK/ SFS Pathaways Middle College)/

 

The Blue Jays look to bounce back on Day three of the Spring Break Games against Tufts at 8 am and Elmhurst at 1 pm.
