=Batesville, AR 3/05/23- The Westminster College Softball team played Lyons College Sunday as they competed in a doubleheader. They would lose game 1 14-0 and lost the second game 10-2
Game 1- Lyons College: Box Score
The Blue Jays had a rough start to the doubleheader as they would lose the first game 14-0. The Blue Jays started Haley Miller (O'Fallon, Mo / Liberty) and she ended up pitching 2.2 innings, faced 18 batters, and struck out 3 of them. She ended the game with 86 pitches and 41 of them were strikes. In relief for Miller. Freshman Caroline Bently(Bakersfield, Mo/ Bakersfield) came in relief and faced 15 batters and struck out 1 batter Sophomore Haylee Chandler(Bowling Green, Mo/ Bowling Green) got the only hits of the game, she ended the game 2-2.
Game 2- Lyons College: Box Score
In the second matchup of the day the Blue Jays started off strong and got a run in the top of the first. The Bats were alive this game as the Blue Jays ended the game with 7 hits. Chandler stayed hot as she went 3-3 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs. Sophomore Kaitlyn Luebbering (Wardsville, Mo/ Blair Oaks) went 2-2 at the plate in game 2. Blue jays that got a base hit consists of Junior Maddie Marrero (Columbia, Mo/ Rock Bridge) and Sophomore Raegen Dickinson (Ozark, Mo/ Ozark). Payton Dudenhoffer (Jefferson City, Mo/ Helias Catholic) started for the Blue Jays as she pitched 3 innings and struck out 4 batters.
The Blue Jays look forward to this next weekend as they play William Woods on Friday at 3:00 pm. They play Central Methodist in a doubleheader on Sunday. Both events will be at home.
