Blue Jays Lose Doubleheader To CMU Eagles

Columbia, Mo 3/12/2023- The Westminster College softball team was back at Rock Bridge High School for a Sunday doubleheader against the Central Methodist University Eagles. It was a chilly day, but the Eagles' bats were hot. They would win game one, 17-0, and game two, 22-0.

Game 1: Box Score

Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty) started on the mound for the Blue Jays. She would start the game strongly, getting the first two batters out. The Blue Jays could find the third out of the inning as the Eagles would go on a two-out rally to score three runs on back-to-back doubles. The Blue Jay pitching staff would not have an answer for the Eagles' potent lineup, giving up 17 hits total and 17 runs.

The Eagles would hold the Blue Jays hitless on their way to the 17-0 victory.

Game 2: Box Score

Caroline Bentley (Bakersfield, MO / Bakersfield) started game one. She would pitch one inning and would be taken out after getting hit by a comeback line drive. She would be okay but was shaken up. Payton Dudenhoeffer (Jefferson City, MO / Helias Catholic) would come in and pitch the next three innings.

Haylee Chandler (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) hit a ground-rule double in the bottom of the first on her birthday. She was on a six-game hitting streak prior to game one. She would have the lone hit for the Blue Jays in the game.

However, the Eagles' offense proved too much. They would total 19 hits and score 22 runs to win the game 22-0.

The Blue Jays will be back in action next weekend when they host Graceland University for a four-game series on March 18th and 19th.
