Blue Jays Drop Game One Of Spring Break Games

Winter Haven, FL 3/24/2023- The Westminster College softball team traveled to Winter Haven, Florida, near Orlando to compete in the 2023 Spring Games. They took on the University of Wisconsin- Platteville in the first of two games on Friday.  The Pioneers would win the game 7-0.

Game 1- Box Score

Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty) started the game for the Blue Jays and would pitch the full seven innings. She would give up seven hits in the game and seven runs with five of them being earned. Miller would strike out four batters and walking four.

The Blue Jays' offense was led by Raegen Dickinson (Ozark, MO / Ozark) and Felicity Kirby (Camdenton, MO / Camdenton), both of them hitting doubles in the game. Dickinson would go one for three from the dish and Kirby was one for two.

Game 2- Box Score

The Westminster College softball team took on the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point in game two from Florida on Friday morning. The Pointers would win the game 11-0.

Caroline Bentley (Bakersfield, MO / Bakersfield) started on the mound and go an inning and two-thirds. She would surrender seven hits and six runs. Payton Dudenhoeffer (Jefferson City, MO / Helias Catholic) came in as a relief pitcher to finish the game. She would pitch three and one-third innings, giving up six hits and five runs. She would strike out one batter.

The Blue Jays at the plate were led by Emily Esquivel (San Diego, Ca. / Eastlake) who went two from three on the day with a double. Haylee Chandler (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) would also have a double in the game.

The Blue Jays will be back in action Saturday playing two games, the first is against Buffalo State University at 8:00 AM central time and Gustavus Adolphus College at 10:30 AM central time.
