Blue Jays Wrap Up Florida Games

Clermont, FL 3/26/2023- The Westminster College softball team wrapped up their trip to Florida with two games on Sunday. They faced off against the Tufts University Jumbos in game one and the Elmhurst University Blue Jays in game two. The Jumbos would win game one, 13-0 and Elmhurst would win game two, 11-3.

Game One: Box Score

The Blue Jays had Haley Miller ( O'Fallon, MO / Liberty) start the game vs Tufts. She would pitch two and one-third inning, giving up nine runs on eight hits. She would walk two and strike out two batters. Madison Scott (Oklahoma City, OK / SFS Pathaways Middle College) came in to pitch two-thirds of an inning, she would surrender four runs on three hits and walk a batter. Payton Dudenhoeffer (Jefferson City, MO / Helias Catholic) came in to relieve Scott. She would pitch the final inning, giving up one hit, walking one, and striking out one.

Emily Esquivel ( San Diego, Ca. / Eastlake) had the lone hit for the Blue Jays. It would come when she singled in the top of the third inning.

Game Two: Box Score

Caroline Bentley (Bakersfield, MO / Bakersfield) started game two against Elmhurst. She would pitch five and one-third innings. She gave up seven runs and nine hits, walking three. Dudenhoeffer would come in to get the final two outs, she would get hit four times and give up four runs. She would walk two batters and strike out one.

The Blue Jays would score three runs in the bottom of the sixth with Esquivel hitting a two-RBI triple then Haylee Chandler (Bowling Green, MO / Bowling Green) would drive her in. She would go two for three in the game.

Westminster will be back in action on April 4th to take on Greenville University to open up conference play after spring break concludes.
