Westminster Volleyball Adds Three in 2015

Westminster College Women's Volleyball Coach Curtis Madson is excited to announce the newest additions to the Blue Jays Volleyball team for the 2015 season.  These three student-athletes will be joining an already talented and experienced roster.  After graduating no players from the 2014 team, Coach Madson went out looking to find additional pieces to push the Blue Jays past the 17-14 mark of last season.  "The core of this team has been in place for the past two seasons.  They have done a great job putting up back-to-back 17 win seasons, and third place finishes in the SLIAC.  My hope is with the additions we are making this season, we can get over the hump and find ourselves competing in the conference final this season," Coach Madson said.  This year's incoming class features three freshman student-athletes.  "I feel this class, though not large in numbers, is very deep in talent.  This class has pieces that will push our existing players, and make an impact on day one," stated Madson. "That is the only way to continue improving."

Meet the recruiting class of 2015:

Micha Frasher – OH (Leavenworth, Kan./Leavenworth)

Micha Frasher is the most versatile player in the 2015 recruiting class.  Micha can play almost any position on the court, and has at a high level.  Micha was a four-year varsity athlete at Leavenworth High School, and was named to the All-Sunflower League team once during her prep career.  "Micha's versatility and athleticism is what drew me to her as a volleyball player" said Madson.  "She is the ultimate team player, she can fill many voids for a team, and is willing to do what it takes to help the team."  Madson continued, "Micha was a team captain at Leavenworth, and I can understand why.  With her type of selflessness and work ethic I think she can be a leader on and off the court for us as well.

Bridget Ringwald – DS (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy)

Bridget Ringwald comes to Westminster with a solid background of competing at high level.  She understands what playing for a successful program takes, her senior year she helped lead her high school team to an Elite 8 finish in Class 4 of the MSHSAA playoffs.  Bridget was also a Co-Captain of her high school team.  "As a player Bridget has the tools to compete at this level.  I am looking for her to compete with our other defensive specialists for playing time this season" said Coach Madson.  "Bridget also has the right type of character we are looking to add to our program, as she has experience being a leader on her high school team.  She also was awarded the Cor Jesu Sportsmanship Award."

Nikki Testerman – OH (Spring, Texas/Oak Ridge)

Nikki Testerman joins the Blue Jays program after a very successful prep career.  Nikki has twice medaled at the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals, her teams have earned a silver and bronze medal during her playing career.  "Nikki knows what it takes to play at a high level, and she brings it every time she steps on the court," said Coach Madson.  Nikki has earned Honorable Mention honors from 5A District coaches during her prep career in Texas.  "With all of Nikki's abilities on the court, we will be looking for her to contribute from day one," Madson continued, "she is a big and powerful outside, that has all the tools to be a well rounded player.  She already possesses multiple shots, and a very high volleyball IQ.  She has the ability to score a point from anywhere on the court."
