Volleyball Splits at Millikin Fall Frenzy

The Westminster volleyball team split at the Millikin Fall Frenzy on Friday, September 18. The Westminster Blue Jays took Rose-Hulman into a fifth set before defeating them 3-2. They turned around and faced-off with host Millikin University, but fell in three. The Blue Jays leave the day tournament with a 1-1 record and are 6-5 on the season.

The Blue Jays won set one over Rose-Hulman, 25-18. They went into extra points in set two, but fell 27-25. The won set three 25-22, but Rose-Hulman held on and won set four, 25-21, sending the match into the deciding set. The Blue Jays pulled out a 16-14 win, giving them the match win. Sophomore Hannah Marshall finished the match with 21 kills while junior setter Kayla Reeg had 46 assists. Freshman libero Bridget Ringwald had 27 digs. 

The Blue Jays lost the match to Millikin with scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21. Marshall led at the net with nine kills. Reeg led in assists and digs with 17 assists and nine digs. Kiso had three blocks in the match.

The volleyball team closes out their six-game week with two conference games on Saturday, September 19, in Jacksonville, Illinois. They play Eureka College at 11:00 a.m. and host MacMurray College at 1:00 p.m.
